No Unreal Tournament games in the works, says Epic boss.
No sequel in sight for long-dormant multiplayer FPS series
Epic Game's long-dormant multiplayer FPS series Unreal Tournament will not be making a comeback anytime soon, studio founder Tim Sweeney told GDC attendees on Wednesday.
Unreal Tournament, an arena-based shooter, was one of the most prominent PC and multi-platform console games in the early 2000s, and the flagship series for Epic's Unreal Engine. Yet there have been no all-new games in the franchise since 2007's Unreal Tournament III.

"We're not [planning on] shipping an Unreal Tournament game," Sweeney said during a GDC panel when quizzed on the series.
"We have a lot of nostalgia for the game but we're actually not developing anything in the Unreal game universe at all at the moment.
"We've announced Fortnite... That's a game we'll be talking about later. We don't have anything to show you here at GDC," he said.
"We're developing that project and there are several other projects that aren't announced yet that are being developed with Unreal Engine 4," Sweeney concluded.
Epic used its GDC panel today to announce an "entirely new" business model for Unreal Engine 4, which will offer access to its tools and complete C++ source code via a subscription model.
Developers can sign up for UE4 for PC, Mac, iOS and Android by paying $19 per month, plus 5% of gross revenue resulting from any commercial products built using the engine.
